Auction Details

In the collecting world, people move from one section of the country and world, work different places, get married, inherit, purchase a dwelling with items left from previous owners, all sorts of ways that someone acquires items. One of the major pieces is a 20” tall Apache Olla basket with 53 animal figures and 3 human woven figures. The basket was a gift from Indians to a Missionary in the 1880s, that wound up being a wedding gift in the late 1940s. In this sale, we have sellers who were career diplomats both working, living and marrying in Europe moving on to the Far East in Post World War II era.
We have a retired owner of a chain of department stores who is relocating to the shores of Maine from Eastern Tennessee, we have an entrepreneur who seemingly collected everything he and his wife ever saw and liked, it did not matter if it was bolted to the wall, he just purchased bolt cutters and acquired his objects, and last but not least, different families with one to 10 pieces that they could not use in their current residences. Subjects and areas of interest in this sale are Civil War, Fine Art, Jewelry, Books, Watches, Early American Furniture, Some European Furniture, Oriental Teak Pieces, Pottery, Guns, Swords, German WWII Items of Interest, Silver, even an original US Patent. Lots of paper ephemera from the Gettysburg, Pa. region concerning the Battle of Gettysburg and items relating to citizens of Adams County, Pa. Some of the best books you will find on Napoleon, The Civil War & all things Virginia as this prominent Virginia Collector never saw a book he did not like.
