East Tenn. Mountain Primitive Chair
Again, the Byrd or Shrader family of Sevier County, Tennessee in the Smoky Mountains area, someone made one of the 3 slat back chairs that are associated with Eastern Tennessee. This appears to be Beech, Ash & Oak chair measures some 34" tall by 16" wide by 12 1/2" deep. I would say there is an old washed wood surface that does not ever appear to have been finished with any sort of varnish. The seat is at least old if not original and is a handmade split woven. This chair likely dates to 1870-1890. It came from a log cabin in the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee. The front legs have a great turned foot when viewed from the side.
