East Tenn. Early Quilt Star & Heart Pattern
Circa 1880-1900, made in Sevier County, Tenn., by a family that lived in a log cabin on property owned from 1790 to 2008, raised almost Trumpato work in the design of the quilting, put together in blocks, some staining, found in the blanket chest offered about 20 lots back, no attempt has been made to clean this, it looks as though it would fit on top a full size bed but measures some 62 by 78". There are hearts quilted in the white pattern, concentric circles inside square blocks, diamonds, the colors are now probably faded from an unsure color to a light chocolate brown with a matching color of hem all around the quilt. The quilt is not frayed or with holes but does have wear from a quilt that is easily 100+ years of age. This quilt would look great as a wall hanging, or used on the top of a bed as a covering. I strongly suspect the stains would clean but would not guarantee this. The quilt is so old that it has bits of cotton seed still in the quilt when held up to strong light visible in the quilting. The basic design of the brown color is a star cut in diamonds. This is possibly made by Maudie Meek Shrader of the Byrd Shrader family.
