John Ennis (TCA) Inlaid Colonial Spurs
Impressive silver inlaid Spanish Colonial chevron style spurs made by the highly acclaimed TCA founding member and master spurmaker in the 1980s. Spurs feature stylized shanks and chap guards, floral shaped swinging buttons, heelchains, hand-made jinglebobs, 3", 16 pt rowels. Ennis hand-made, 2-piece lined leathers. John still holds the world’s record for contemporary spurs when his Spanish Colonial pair brought over $40,000 at the 2004 TCA show in Oklahoma City. The first pair of spurs John Ennis made for himself were in the Spanish vaquero style -- an elegant tradition he still favors. Combining formal training in gun smithing and years of experience as a tool-and-die maker, Ennis started a business restoring antique firearms. He incorporated bit and spur making in his business in 1998. John’s passion still lies with the 1700-1820 Spanish Colonial period.
