20" x 30". Circa 1932. Advertisement poster for Guinness featuring artwork by noted British artist John Gilroy, whose work is particularly associated with the Guinness brand. This design was used for the London Underground subway and adopts Alice, the March Hare, and the Mad Hatter from Lewis Carroll's Alice books. Printed in London by T. B. Lawrence Ltd. Rolled, with paper loss and chipping at the upper left, edge tears, and creasing. Colors remain bright and vivid. Original posters from this series are quite rare.
