Edward H Bohlin Cluster Special Sterling Silver Parade Saddle
Dazzling, early 1950s Edward H Bohlin Cluster Special saddle made for legendary Los Angeles conservative TV anchorman, George Putnam and given to his daughter, Jil, an accomplished horsewoman from Sun Valley who shared her father's passion for ranch life, horses and dogs and whose name appears in gold on the back of the cantle. The saddle has a 15 1/2” seat, 4” high cantle, buffalo head horn cap, fully silvered front end and rear cantle with twisted rope edge and long, full silvered Tapaderos with heavy gauge end caps. The square conchos used were an exclusive design by the renowned saddlemaker to the stars and were divided into four sections making many facets which create light reflections -- shining extremely brilliant in both parades and the show ring. The complete ensemble includes a perfectly matching very opulent Breast Collar, Bridle with flat reins and engraved ferrules and a marked Bohlin Bit. Overall condition is excellent and includes a black and white Bohlin wool Corona. This exquisite saddle was priced at a staggering $4352 in the 1954 Bohlin catalog -- about the same price as a small house in West Los Angeles during that period Includes custom wooden display stand
