Not much is know about the citizenship pin besides it being extremely rare. Few of the many pins survived over the last one hundred years. This is the only one I have seen it was passed down to me from my uncle who was Yankton Sioux. The pin was his mother's I hate to part with it however it is time for someone else to be the steward of this historical treasure. The Smithsonian showed interest in the pin however we could not donate at it at this time.

Research I have done dated the pin circa 1916 the pins were given out to Native Americans. More than ironic, from anecdotal information once a Native person completed requirements they were given this pin.

Not many survived, this pin depicts an American flag with and eagle with leather pouch. The pouch is stamped.
