DUMM, Edwina. (1893-1990) American writer-artist who drew the comic strip Cap Stubbs and Tippie for six decades, also notable as the nation’s first full-time female editorial cartoonist and one of the earliest female syndicated cartoonists. She used her middle name for the signature on her comic strip, signed simply ‘’Edwina.” This brief typewritten letter is dated September 10, 1945 and refers to a memorial booklet honoring Joe Connolly, president of King Features Syndicate. It is on plain paper with the name “Edwina” hand printed in ink at the top and signed at the end. Octavo, one page. Fine condition. From the collection of comic strip historian and co-founder of the Rosebud Archives, Rick Marschall.
