Bluffs Overlooking La Jolla 18” X 48” Oil on board Signed lower left Burt Proctor In the 1950s the 365 acre bluffs between Corona del Mar and Laguna Beach was a stable and pasture for horses. This painting was commissioned by the consignor’s parents, Robert and Jackie Flanegin depicting Terry and Mike Flanegin along with their horses, the palamino Sh-Boom and the Blue Roan, Cheyenne. We would go to the pasture and just stand with our horses while Burt worked. Sometimes, we would go to Burt’s home in Corona del Mar. Burt owned horses at the pasture and many times we would ride together. John Wayne and Buddy Epson also boarded horses there and the Flanegin children would ride with their kids when they were in town. Our horses roamed free on the 365 acres and life was wonderful then.
