Bond-1900 Oneida Gold. Issued stocks-1855 Herbertville Quartz- The city of Herbertville began in 1851 and was named after reverend Lemuel Herbert, who was an owner of Spring Hill Mine. It is now a ghost town. According to the Sacramento Daily Union, March 8th, 1859, the Herbertville Quartz Mining Co. took out $4,750 in the month of February, a "good beginning."
