The Abbott Mining Company of New York, Certificate #322 issued to W. E. Blanchard for 100 shares at $10 each on Jun 28, 1880 in New York. Signed by president James H. Matt and secretary and treasurer, Geo C. Simmons. 2 mining vignette, one in the center, the other to the left. Black border and print by Brett Litho Co., NY.
The Spokesman Review (Spokane, WA) from 16 Aug 1957, page 12, mentions Mullan Idaho, , that after 1884, the Abbott Mining Company, its reorganizing and adding claims to its holdings, kept the town alive for many years. From the San Francisco Examiner, Nov 8, 1875, page 3: "The Abbott Mining Company filed a claim for 9,593 78 in currency, including, amounts due on two promissory notes dated December 16th and 24th, 1875, for $4,890 12 and $4,708 66 respectively. The notes are dated at New York and, and signed, Thomas H. Selby & Co., per B. Haxtum." This is a key period, when Idaho mines were promoted for investment in New York. Herzog Collection. Mullan Idaho
