World War I (Series 2)

Honor the sacrifices and accomplishments of America's first fighter pilots with the "War To End All Wars" Patriot silver round, exclusively from Gainesville Coins. This prooflike silver round is the second design in the Patriot series, following the "Don't Tread On Me" prooflike silver round celebrating the nation's first patriots of the American Revolution.

The obverse of the "War to End All Wars" WWI Patriot silver round features the Patriot Series emblem of a monument emblazoned with the word PATRIOT and 2019, topped by an American bald eagle in heraldic pose. The busts of a Minuteman, a WWI US Army Air Service pilot, and a WWII US Navy sailor, representing the Army, Air Force, and Navy, respectively, dominate the design. Flanking the Minuteman is two WWI fighter planes, and an Iowa-class WWII battleship. A stylized American flag provides a backdrop. The inscription 1 TROY OUNCE .999 FINE SILVER runs across the top border, bisected by the Minuteman's tricorn hat.

The reverse of the "War To End All Wars" silver round is dominated by a SPAD XIII of the famous 94th "Hat in the Ring" Aero Squadron zooming low over the front. The 94th Aero Squadron, led by US "Ace of Aces" Eddie Rickenbacker, had the highest kill count of any American fighter squadron of WWI. High in the background, two Zeppelin bomber dirigibles lumber across the sky, escorted by a Fokker Triplane - the same plane that the Red Baron flew to fame. In the left background, the ruins of a cathedral overlook a devastated town. In the left foreground, a cavalry troop stands ready with a WWI tank, as American "doughboys" rise from their trenches to charge across No Man's Land. The inscription "THE WAR TO END ALL WARS" runs across the top border, and "WORLD WAR I" occupies the bottom. Strands of barbed wire run along the left and right border.
