Native American Chief Portrait, by Severo Enrique Zavaleta, Born in Bolivia in 1932, Servero Zavaleta studied art at Andres University in La Paz, also learning one-on-one with revered South American Masters such as Rimsa and Solon Romero of Bolivia, Jaime Carvalho of Rio de Janeiro, and Augusto Iriarte. Color is one of the key factors in Zavaletas works - he uses rich Baroque hues to surround his striking figures with an ambiance of finely crafted drama. His carefully selected palette delivers a strong emotional impact, with unique colors arranged in a subtle manner to create a profound experience within the viewer. Zavaletas heartfelt creations have been displayed in group shows throughout Bolivia and Argentina, winning this Master Artist first prizes in various competitions. Zavaleta completed a special commision for the University of Rio de Janeiro that included portraits of some of the countys most prestigious educators
