Arts for ACT 2005 Featured Artist Born and raised in New York City, Al Oerter's heroes were the weight throwers of the New York Athletic Club and the abstract artists that were continually breaking new ground in the 1930's, 40's and 50's. "Hard work and a goal of making it to the Olympic Games enabled me to join my throwing heroes and I am sure that this same drive will help me create unique and interesting pieces of abstract art," states Oerter. Oerter's work has been exhibited in Monaco, Athens, Lausanne and numerous United States cities. His work is now included in several national and international collections. Oerter's work is displayed at the Arts for ACT Gallery in historic downtown Fort Myers. His art consists entirely of acrylic and gesso on canvas. From hard edge to entire free form pieces, there is no single theme defining his art other than abstract. Artist's Statement: "Never having an athletic coach or a teacher or mentor in art, everything I create comes from within. I hope you enjoy my work as much as I do in creating it."
Puzzle is an acrylic with gesso on canvas painting.
Shipping:Domestic - sent via UPS ground, insured. Second Day or Next Day Air available on request. International: air only – contact us for quotes. There is a charge for handling and packing materials and all breakable items will be bubble-wrapped and boxes will be reinforced, or double boxed, to prevent breakage. We will combine lots if possible. Breakable items, however, will be combined only if they're small enough to fit in standard boxes. Please note - purchases of box lots may require several boxes for shipment. Buyers must be willing to pay resultant shipping costs. High value shipments may be sent registered mail if insurance amount is more favorable than UPS. We do not profit from shipping – we only pass along incurred costs.
Payment: Credit cards listed when registering for auction will be charged on the day following the auction for total amount of purchase including premium and appropriate shipping charges. While we also accept checks, money orders, and PayPal, we must receive notification within twelve hours of auction end that you do not wish your credit card charged. We ship only to the address listed on your credit card unless you contact us prior to auction and fax us a written authorization.
Bids: Floor bidders are given preference on bids of the same amount as Internet bidders; i.e. if you leave a bid of $25 and a floor bidder bids $25, item will go to floor bidder.
Questions: We welcome all questions; emails will be answered only on weekdays.
