The ever so pretty "Hubak Lady" is the painting choosen by the accessory manufacture to feature in this reproduction. Back at the turn of the century there was a movement to copy famous artwork and produce them for the common middle classes. The accessory company highlighted this copy in an ornate frame and matted the background in rich velvet. On the back of the frame is an old yellowish label by the company that states, "Hubak Lady". This item showcases 2 historic times, the first is when the original was painted (and it looks to be by the famous British artist Thomas Lawrence) and the second when the movement was going strong to give the middle classes in the US their own masterpieces...the only way possible by a knock off-a copy. This is an excellent example of this movement and the woman is pretty as a picture.
