Contemporary, c.1960, Japan. Ivory netsuke with two entwined Manchurian cranes, each having inlaid yellow eyes and amber-coloured inlaid oval in head. Signed Bishu.
Note: Bishu = Katsutoshi Saito, born April 28, 1943, Tokyo. Taught to carve netsuke by his father. One of the most important figures of the contemporary netsuke movement.
