massive french GILT mantel CLOCK Movement marked S. MARTI ET CIE MEDAILLE DE BRONZE, 1860-1869. The 9 in. gilt dial with regal inconography and applied white enamel disks with blue Roman numerals (some damage), pierced scroll hands, typical 8-day movement, Brocot suspension, bell chime on the hour and half-hour (bell deficient) with a clear glass back window, encased in a body decorated with applied gilt putti, oak leaf and acorn branches, sun-burst motifs and scroll-work acanthus leaves, and rasied on a scroll-work base (pendulum deficient).
