Spectacular athletic showman (1947–1988) who did much to popularize the game of basketball in the 1970s. He died of a heart attack at the age of forty while playing a pickup three-on-three game in a California gym. Desirable 8.5 x 11 lightweight photo of Maravich in his Utah Jazz uniform, signed and inscribed in blue ballpoint “To John - May the peace of Christ come into your heart. ‘Pistol Pete’, Psalms 144:4, Matt. 7:13,14.” The photo also bears a pre-printed signature. In fine condition, with corner dings and a bit of light surface wear. Pre-certified Steve Grad/PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
