An outstanding example of American folkart at its best!
Handcarved, wooden eagle with widespread wings and tenacious
talons.

The carving, by a self-taught carver, is wonderful. But what
makes the eagle extraordinary is how the piece weathered and
changed over the many years it stood outside in the elements,
and yet it is still unmistakeably an eagle.
CONDITION: There
has been a primitive, old repair which can be seen from the
back, with one or two old nails showing through on the front.
They only enhance the grittiness of the piece. Also, some minor
gluing to stabilize one wing. The steel stand has been custom
made to fit the piece and is removable.
DIMENSIONS: WING
SPAN: 24.5"; HEIGHT WITHOUT STAND: 10.5" HEIGHT WITH
STAND: 13.5" 3" DEEP
