1) Early Wilcox, Cochise, October 6, 1893 (1889-present). Stamp on reverse notifies recipient "MAIL DELAY, TRAIN LATE." 2) Tempe, Maricopa, January 5, 1882 (1879-present). Charles Hayden, formerly Hayden's Ferry, corner advertisement. In 1870 Charles Hayden purchased land on the Salt River and started a ferry service and mercantile store. In 1979 the name of the area was changed to Tempe. This cover is from the founder of Tempe (Hayden's Ferry), probate judge, and advocate for a normal school which eventually became Arizona State University. 3) Christmas, Gila, September 22, 1909 (1905-1935). Post card, Reverse shows cactus in bloom. Black and white. This lot has a lot going for it!
