Meiji period, 1868-1911, Japan. Two-sectioned wood inro, carved with cranes amongst pine trees (symbolic of immortality). Attached by cord to ojime bead depicting bird pecking at clam shell and the netsuke, a seated crane, all with inlaid eyes.
