Barbara Simon earned a BS in Art Education and an MFA in metalwork and jewelry. She has been a goldsmith for over thirty-five years and has taught at University of Wisconsin-Menomonie and Iowa State University. She held a position of Professor in the Fine Arts Department at Edison Community College, from 1991 through 2000. Presently she crisscrosses the United States as a Senior Instructor for the Rio Rewards Precious Metal Clay Certification Program. Simon has traveled to Japan to teach PMC. In 2001, her necklace earned the Grand Prize in "Millennial Metal, The Art of Precious Metal Clay" held in Connecticut. Simon has also gained a national reputation for her lamp worked glass beads and jewelry. <BR>Fish is a necklace with a handmade, lamp worked focal bead in the shape of a fish that is hung with seed beads, freshwater pearls and other lamp worked beads. <BR>
