There is an almost fairy-tale quality to the story of artist Romero Britto. As a creative yet impoverished child from Brazil, Britto often painted images on scraps of cardboard and newspaper. He had drive and passion to excel and prospered academically, but Britto was continuously pulled toward his creative roots with a determination to learn and succeed. He traveled to Europe then to the United States to exhibit and sell his art. His resolve was strong and his belief in his art was unshakable. By 1989, people of all ages and walks of life were beginning to recognize and enjoy Britto's art. The Absolut Vodka's ad campaign catapulted Britto into the limelight, placing him alongside artists such as Andy Warhol and Keith Haring. The label 'neo-pop cubism,' indicates Britto's links with |certain artists and antecedent styles. Britto's individual style has emerged from these influences, while he incorporates his own style using vibrant colors, pop imagery and playful patterns and swirls as well as an inventive use of his signature within his paintings. Britto has loaned his talent and energy to many philanthropic causes. His "Cheek to Cheek" brought $100,000 at live auction to the Agassi Foundation in Las Vegas, Nevada. It is a tremendous personal reward for Britto that his art is capable of inspiring others to give. His studio in Miami Beach is open to the public and has become a meeting place for school children, collectors and art enthusiasts.<BR>Delicious is an original acrylic/oil pen on board painting.
