Gifted to the present owner's father by Eamon De Valera hence by descent
A revolver similar in style to the Beaumont Adams revolver but with front loading lever latch, made by J Beattie 205 Regent Street, London and with VR patent marks. Many antique and older weapons were used by Irish Volunteers during the 1916 Rising and the War of Independence, this example was acquired by Eamon De Valera and gifted by him to a member of An Garda Síochána who guarded his house at Cross Avenue, Blackrock.
