c. 18th Century, Ornate Decorative British Hand-Carved Priming Powder Horn that depicts a rarely seen Nude Woman, Choice Very Fine.
This c. 18th Century British Hand Carved Priming Powder Horn measures about 5.5” long, with a 1.75” x 2.5” oval base. An extensively well carved scrimshawed Powder Horn exhibiting the British Coat of Arms, "DIEU ET MON DROIT" (God and my right) in a banner, an English Rose, a Scottish Thistle surrounded by border Foliage. The other side depicts a rarely seen Nude Woman standing behind a Dog. The powder horn is fitted with an early style brass spout with wood plug in the bottom. There are a few age splits on the lower edge. This handsome Priming Horn may have been made in Scotland. Overall, a highly ornate choice quality Hand-carved priming powder horn likely from the French & Indian War to American Revolutionary War period.
