“DRAFT! DRAFT! Important Meeting!” for Morgan Rifles, 93rd NY Volunteers $20,000 New Soldier Bounties!
c. 1864 Civil War Era, New York “Draft Meeting” Union Broadside offering of $20,000 in Bounties for new soldiers and for payments to those Veterans willing to Reenlist, Extremely Fine.
This historic, Civil War Era Broadside measures 11.5” x 9” and is calling for a response to the $20,000 Bounty for new soldiers and payments due those veterans willing to reenlist in the 93rd NY Volunteers – a three year regiment that was mustered into service at Albany between October 1861 and January 1862.

Except for some light mailing folds, this historic Broadside is in excellent condition. The 93d, known as the "Morgan Rifles" with 998 soldier/members, the unit served with distinction in numerous campaigns. It was present at the siege of Yorktown; fought at Lee's Mills, Williamsburg and in the Seven Days' battles; and upon the return from the Peninsula was present at Antietam and Fredericksburg. As detailed in the Civil War Database, in the opening of the Wilderness campaign, the regiment, of which a large proportion had reenlisted, reading in part… “showed its fighting mettle where it lost 258 killed or wounded out of 433 engaged. It was constantly in action during the battles…” The regiment remained at Petersburg until the end of the siege and constantly displayed such gallantry in action and reliability in the performance of every duty that it well deserved the reputation won as an unusually well trained, efficient command and as a "fighting regiment." A choice, museum quality Union Broadside that is excellent for display.
