This Zachary Taylor Reverse-Image Transfer on Glass Wall Plaque measures about 1.75" x 2.25" colorful image being on an oval glass disc with Hand-colored transfer portrait of Taylor, housed in a make-do 3.75" x 4.25" ebonized wall plaque with a gilt brass inner surround. Taylor’s portrait shown in his military uniform as major general, recessed from the surface plane made to fit. Some minor crazing to the upper background, most noticeable above his hair. Made in France for sale to the American market as he was elected the 12th President of the United States.
Zachary Taylor was the 12th president of the United States, serving from March 1849 until his death in July 1850. Taylor previously was a career officer in the United States Army, rose to the rank of major general and became a national hero as a result of his victories in the Mexican–American War.
