c. 1800 George Washington and Benjamin Franklin Portrait Wedgwood Jasperware Pitcher
c. 1800 Federal Period, Wedgwood Jasperware Bisque Pitcher with Portraits of Washington and Franklin. English, Choice About Mint.
This beautiful, highly ornate c. 1800 Wedgwood Pitcher measures 4.5” tall and 2.75” at its base. It is rich deep green in color overall with “Wedgwood” and “England” properly stamped into the base for attribution. This Pitcher has a white grapevine decoration surrounding the top rim, a decorative pillar design beneath the spout, and 1.5” tall white raised portraits of George Washington and Benjamin Franklin each located within an ornate oval surround on either side. Even the green handle has a lightly scalloped design adding to this highly attractive piece. This style and size Pitcher was most likely used for serving Bisque soup at meals or simply for its exceptional eye appeal for decoration on display.
