Engraved Portrait “John Adams” by C. Tiebout Philadelphia

c. 1797, Large American Engraved Portrait titled, “JOHN ADAMS,” by C. Tiebout, Published by A. Day, No. 38 Chestnut St., Philadelphia, Choice Extremely Fine.

This impressive large format engraving of John Adams measures 10.75" x 14.25" (by sight), being handsomely, professionally framed under glass to approximately 15.15" x 19.15". This historic Philadelphia engraving is quite rare, and appears to date from John Adam's Presidency. This is a truly choice imprint, possibly a Proof impression due to the significant plate outline so deeply seen within the heavy wove paper stock being a result of the printing process. A beautiful impression, housed in an appealing frame and ready for display.

John Adams (October 30, 1735 – July 4, 1826) was an American statesman, diplomat and political theorist. A leading champion of independence in 1776, he was the second President of the United States (1797–1801). Hailing from New England, Adams, a prominent lawyer and public figure in Boston, was highly educated and represented Enlightenment values promoting republicanism. A Federalist, he was one of the most influential Founding Fathers of the United States.
