Post Revolutionary War Copper Hand-Wrought Coffeepot
c. 1790s Post Revolutionary War, Late 18th to Early Federal Period 19th Century, Copper Hand-Wrought Coffeepot, with Decorative Wooden Side Handle, Choice Very Fine.
This original, period copper Coffeepot measures 8.5” high x 5.5” long, in an oval form. The top lid is adorned with an impressive 1.5” tall early Federal style, cast-brass American Eagle which is attached by solder at top as the finial. There is a decorative “Star” pattern design below the eagle and a surround of denticles at the top of the opening, just below the lid cover. It also has a decorative turned wooden side handle which fully measures 6.25” long with about 4.25” being made of wood. One could easily imagine the use of such a coffeepot in a stately somewhere home in New England, Philadelphia or Baltimore. This example has been used in the past and has a lovely even copper color with a pleasing natural patina. There are no major detractions or problems and will still hold coffee today. This handsome museum quality piece is complete. This great looking decorative Copper Hand-Wrought Coffeepot would be an excellent item for any period display.
