Colonial Era Brass Coffee Grinder with Forged Handle
c. 1775 Revolutionary War Era, Working Brass Coffee Grinder with a Hand-Forged Handle, Very Fine.
This original Revolutionary War Era Brass Coffee Grinder appears very similar to one shown on page 88 of “Collector’s Illustrated Encyclopedia of the American Revolution” by Neumann and Kravic. It measures about 13.5” tall and 2” in diameter. Its Brass body separates into 2 pieces. The top half holds the coffee beans, and the bottom half collects the finely ground coffee. This example includes the original foldable handle that attaches to the long central shaft at the top. Body has some fine decorative concentric engravings. Remarkably, the original grinding mechanism still turns, so you could probably still use it to grind coffee beans today. A very rare and useful item, perfect for Colonial and Revolutionary War enthusiasts first thing in the morning!
