c. 1770s Colonial Era, Hand-Forged Iron Cobbler’s Hammer with Extended Side Attachment Supports for a handle, Choice Very Fine.

This original Colonial Era Cobbler’s Hammer is an excellent example of that special working tool, this piece with extended cheek with long side supports with two small holes on each side meant to be attached to its handle. It measures about 6.25” x 4.25” having a slim styled hammer head with longer iron support beams extending at the cheek and the claw end being even in length to the hammer side. These tools were commonly used in shoemaking and other leather crafts of the period. This example is particularly attractive looking, with beautiful even proper light age patina on the metal. The first we have offered and excellent for display.
