Colonial Era Flintlock Tinder Lighter with Candle Stand
c. 1765-1780 Revolutionary War to War of 1812 Era Use, English Made Colonial Flintlock Tinder Lighter with Candle Stand, made by BOND, London, Very Fine.
Flintlock Tinder Lighter has a wood handle and all brass construction with rather simple decorative Engraving and Maker Signed “BOND” on the left side of the box-lock frame. The front of the box-lock action has a rectangular storage container to hold extra candles, flints, and tinder (tow). Its one-piece wood flat-sided grip with minor old repairs to the lower edges where the chips were pinned back in place. All its iron parts exhibit areas of fine rust pitting and surface grime (can be cleaned by a professional if desired). A fine example in good mechanical working order.
