CHINA EXPORT ENAMELWARE SMALL DISH c. 1750-1850

Pristene condition. Masterly craftsmanship. Vivid color.
Beautiful enamelwork. Charming lettering. The shape of this
plate, with its cutout
corners, and the superb painting makes the piece all the more
appealing. This is truly a gem!
As a rule, the subject of the
artwork is the upper class at leisure, usually in their homes.
They give us a glimpse into the world of late 18th/19th China.

Enamelware technique is
different from cloissonier, where copper wire is placed on the
brass surface, and then enamel paint is applied to the design
formed by the wire. The wire keeps the enamel from running
into other colors.
This piece, and others I will be listing, has
no wire, and depends on the skill of the artisan to keep the
paints from running together.
Cloissonier has long been
popular. Simple enamelware is as yet undiscovered and prices
are still affordable.
Don't miss this opportunity to start or
add
to a beautiful, and distinctive collection of China Export
enamelware.
