It is a pleasure to present this beautiful example of enamelware
being produced in China during the 2nd half of the 18th
century. The highly decorated and highly decorative pieces of
enamelwork were part of a flourishing trade with England. That
period was given the name China Export which started in the
18th c. and lasted into the 19th century.
The piece shown
here is a charming, footed and covered dish with exquisite
painting on all sides. The graceful, brass finial appears to be
original to the piece, with lovely, delicate etchings. The painting
on the lid is particularly beautiful. The melon-like design of the
top continues to the body of the bowl. The combined height is
approx. 5.25".
CONDITION: There is one ding on the pink
band near the top of the lid . Other than this one, not very
noticeable dent, the piece is in remarkably good condition.
