Rare Pair of Circa 1700 French Flintlock Holster Pistols
c. 1700, Pair of French Flintlock Holster Pistols made in the Dutch Form, Signed “DIEUDONNE, ANGOLESME,” Very Fine.
This rare Pair of French Flintlock Holster Pistols is made in the Dutch form. Each Pistol has a 12", .52 cal. smoothbore Iron barrel with a chiseled relief breech. Each Pistol measures about 18.75” overall, the locks are Signed “DIEUDONNE, ANGOLESME” with fine Engraved details. Both pistols remain in their original flint configuration, having fine Iron furniture including pierced “Serpent” side plates. The walnut stocks are high quality, being nicely carved with raised molded areas around all parts. The stock is solid with minor areas of period repairs with fill, having expected light scratches and dings from years of actual handling and use. Overall, an original Pair in good working order.
