For over 100 years and across four generations the Pappas family name has been synonymous with trading posts and auctions in North America. The first generation (Theodore Pappas I) arrived from Greece to New York in 1913 with only a pocketful of change. Working along the railroad line as a shoeshine and water boy, he eventually settled along a trade route in Prince George British Columbia. After the birth of his son, (Theodore Pappas II) he moved his operations to Vancouver, B.C. and developed his unique talent both as an auctioneer and an entrepreneur, and launched a very successful auction company, which he later entrusted to his son.

Years later, In 1979 after completing extensive studies in art and architecture, Theodore Pappas III continuing in the family tradition opened his own trading post, specializing in used goods, antiques, collectibles and native art in the basement of his father’s auction company. Over the next two decades Theodore Pappas III became an auctioneer himself, and successfully founded and launched West Coast Estates (an auction company specializing in estate items, antiques, fine art and collectibles) and was one of the original co-founders of Seahawk Auctions (specializing in native and tribal art). Seahawk Auctions still remains in operation today.

Now fourth generation, The Mumbling Muse, strives to be as unique as the items they sell and is definitely not a regular ‘bricks and mortar’ auction house. Theresa Taylor is a certified and experienced auctioneer operating out of Cornwall, Ontario. Theresa's personality shines through her bid calling. In October of 2004, she was crowned Ladies Champion at the All Round World Championship Competition held at the Auctioneers Association of Canada Annual Convention in Montreal, Quebec.

Theresa is a graduate of the World Wide College of Auctioneering, an organization she now supports by returning as an instructor. She believes strongly in the value of continuing education programs, and has taken courses each year for the past 9 years.

She is the recipient of the NAA's prestigious Rose Award, and has accepted speaking roles at numerous conferences.

In her own community, Theresa is a member of the local Chamber of Commerce, tourism board, Rotary Club, and other business organizations. She was named Cornwall's Entrepreneur of the Year in 2001. Over the past several years Theresa has contributed her talents to local community groups, helping to raise over $300,000 through special charity auctions.
