This Auguste Jean vase is huge, it is 17 1/4" tall. It is in Prussian blue. It has four large dolphins supporting the entire vase. The vase gently curves at the top. There is a very large coiled lizard attacking a butterfly. The top of the vase has applied glass dripping rigaree. The four dolphins are approx. 8" long. This is circa 1876-1878. It has a large polished disc pontil. A lot of research was done to insure that this was Auguste Jean. Photos show of the reference books that this is so. The reference photos and descriptions are exactly the same as the vase that is for sale. The only difference, one reference book has the vase in crystal and the other reference book has the vase in green with amber feet.

First reference book that was used was the 600 page L'Europe De L'Art Verrier by Mardaga. This vase can be seen on page 246, and the second reference was an auction catalog from Dr. Fischer's auction, European auction, held last year.
