Zulu Trapdoor 12 GA. Shotgun Made in Belguim Circa 1875

SERIAL NUMBER: 9269

Single shot trapdoor 12 gauge shotgun. 30 1/2 inch barrel.

This unit has a French Tabatiere System (nicknamed the Snuffbox) conversion of a
percussion military muzzle loading rifle to fire either center fire cartridges or shotgun
shells. Converted to a shotgun (known as Zulu Guns) in Belgium.
Belgian proof marks on barrel are not very easily read.

These conversions to Zulu Shotguns occurred in the 1870s and 1880s.

Apart from the many Belguim stamps and some unrecognizable stamps there is the
word ZULY stamped ontop of the barrel.

Blued steel has turned brown patina all over - Bore is smooth is good with a few
dark areas.

Hardwood stock has lots of repairs done to area behind loading port - Has many
steel pins inserted to secure the stock. Other areas do show age and wear.
Steel butt plate appears original.

Overall CONDITION is Fair to Good.
