Zu Ming Ho (1949- ) was born in China into a family of well known artists. He began taking art courses in elementary school, learning both Chinese and Western styles. He became a member of the emerging Yunnan School, which sought to create Westernized portrayals of traditional Chinese themes. Ming Ho then suffered for years in a Chinese forced labor camp, but finally established his art career after fleeing to the U.S. The rich history of China is evident in Ming Ho's work, from the tribal culture, to ancient art to myths. His art is widely recognized around the world for its unique style, and is appreciated for its rhythm and balance.
