American author and playwright (1874–1938) who became the first female to win the Pulitzer Prize for drama in 1921. Four letters consisting of three one-page TLSs, all 8.5 x 11 and one ALS on a 5.5 x 3.5 photo postcard of a nebula. All the letters are to the same recipient and date from 1921–1931. One TLS reads, in part: “Thank you for your most interesting letter with its inspiring record of someone who makes for herself a life of interest out of temporary defeat.” The postcard reads, “Christmas greeting by way of the great nebulae in Andromeda!” In very good condition.
