This lot features a Zapotec Indian wool rug. It is in good condition for its age, showing little to no wear. The Zapotec civilization was an indigenous pre-Columbian civilization that flourished in the Valley of Oaxaca in Mesoamerica. When the Spanish first arrived in North America 400 years ago it was the Zapotecs they first taught there style of weaving to and then the Navajo Native American Indians. It has a wonderful multicolored design in the Navajo Chinle Style. The weaving is tight which allows for great detail. It measures 57" L x 29.5" W
