Scarce partly-printed DS as president, signed “Z. Taylor,” one page, 21 x 16.5, December 20, 1849. Four-language ship's papers issued to "Ezra Pickens, master or commander of the Bark called United States… lying at present in the port of New Bedford bound for the Indian Ocean and laden with Provisions, stores and utensils for a whaling voyage." Boldly signed in the center by President Taylor and countersigned by Secretary of State John M. Clayton. The white paper seal affixed at center remains mostly intact, with a few clipped points. In fine condition, with partial separations professionally repaired on the reverse, and a few tiny areas of paper loss. Any Taylor presidential document is quite uncommon, as he served only 16 months before suddenly passing away on July 9, 1850.
