c. 1848 Colorful Zachary Taylor Presidential Campaign, Political Printed Cotton Textile, as the Whig nomination for Presidency, “Threads of History” Item 198, Framed, Choice Extremely Fine.

This superb quality, colorful printed Political Campaign Textile was produced as the Whig nominated candidate for the Presidency. Measuring a large 23" x 19" (by sight) and nicely framed to 32.25” x 29.75” the glass removed. It is listed in the reference “Threads of History” as item number 198, as listed on page 123. The textile has colorful tan, brown and blue printing and is in bright, clean condition. The theme depicting the American Mexican War hero, General Zachary Taylor, leading his troops into battle during the Mexican War. Taylor is seated upon his white horse as Mexican artillery soldiers fade as he approaches. In 1846 Taylor was appointed major general and he received the thanks of Congress and in 1849 resigned from the army due to his Whig nomination for the Presidency. The superior condition with its bright, rich colors is simply the finest example we have ever seen. This museum quality example is very impressive and ready for display.
