Autograph letter signed ''Z. Taylor'' on 6 August 1833 while Taylor was serving as a Colonel fighting Indians in present day Wisconsin. Written from Fort Crawford to a Major, letter reads in part, ''…in relation to this officer I wished appointed Ass't C of Subsistence at this place…I have to request that the temporary apt. may be confirmed…'' Single page measures 8'' x 9.5''. In very good condition with tape repairs to verso, small areas of paper loss due to ink acidity and some light pooling of ink to several words of text.
