Bill Narum. U.T Memorial Stadium. 15.5" x 23.5 Rare poster in good condition. " On "September 1, 1974, Texas rock band ZZ Top headlined a music festival at the University of Texas' Memorial Stadium in Austin. With a lineup including Santana, Joe Cocker, and Bad Company featuring Jimmy Page, the concert reportedly became the largest one-day musical event in Texas history to that point. While the festival was advertised as "ZZ Top's First Annual Texas Size Rompin' Stompin' Barn Dance and Bar B Q," there was to be no second. Some 80,000 concertgoers braved the 91-degree heat to attend, overrunning security measures and destroying the stadium. (The most serious damage included large burns to the newly installed AstroTurf field, to the extreme dismay of Head Coach Darrell Royal" -Texas Archive
