1004. GEORGI K. ZHUKOV (1896 - 1974) Soviet Field Marshall, perhaps the greatest general of World War II, he survived crushing poverty and Stalin's purges to command the Russian armies at the monumental battles of Moscow and Kursk, and in the taking of Berlin. An incredible, very important T.Ms.S. signed twice, on first and last pages, 97pp. 4to., [Moscow?], Jan. 1, 1966, a retained carbon copy of the typed manuscript of Zhukov's memoir of the final days of World War II, later to be published in The Memoirs of Marshal G. Zhukov. The entire text is in Russian, and describes in great detail the closing days of the war. The marshal sets forth his recollections of the planning of the final assault on Berlin, the contribution of Allied forces attacking from the west, and in particular describes his interaction with Stalin and the hardships faced by the rapidly-advancing Russian armies. Boldly signed in blue ink at start and finish. Certainly worthy of a full translation so that the reader may fully appreciate this great general's accomplishments!$600-800
