ZHUKOV, GEORGI K.
218. GEORGI K. ZHUKOV (1896 - 1974) Soviet Field Marshall, perhaps the greatest general of World War II, he survived crushing poverty and Stalin's purges to command the Russian armies at the monumental battles of Moscow and Kursk, and in the taking of Berlin. Rare A.L.S. 1p. sm. folio, [Moscow], July 20, 1967 to his publisher Viktor Vrohkin sending a 1p. 4to. typed extract of an article Zhukov has written upon the drive on Berlin, with the article bearing nine additions, deletions and notes made in Zhukov's hand. The general writes his publisher in Russian, asking that the included text be added to his chapter "In the direction of Berlin", and also requesting that the names of those described in the article be checked for accuracy. Zhukov closes his message expressing his warm regards to Vrokhin and staff. Fine. Much of Zhukov's articles on the history of the war were later published in his volume The Memoirs of Marshal G. Zhukov. $400-600
