Lot 713 ZACHARY TAYLOR CAMPAIGN/BARNUM MUSEUM CHROMOLITHOGRAPH Originally lithographed and printed by Thomas Benecke in 1855, this is likely a later 1870’s re-print by Nagel & Lewis. Humorous winter street scene looking east on Broadway in front of Barnum’s Museum that stood at Broadway and Fulton Streets in New York. The colorful winter image shows musicians and spectators reveling in a snow bound scene of sleigh gridlock at the time of Zachary Taylor’s campaign for president. The sleigh on the left bearing the presidential looking graphics is seen full of his raucous supporters. Wonderful early New York imagery complete with horses, pedestrians, and an even an erupting snowball fight. IMAGE SIZE: 29-3/4”w x 21” t. CONDITION: Very Good. 1-106-563 (1,000-2,000)
