<B>Yuri Gagarin's Zippered Vinyl Portfolio Inscribed to USSR Deputy Foreign Minister</B></I> inside, in Russian: “<I>Nikolai Nikolayevich/ Rodionov/ in remembrance of our position in the/ 23rd Congress of the CPSU./ With sincere respect/ Gagarin/ 6.4.66.</B></I>” Rodionov was a member of the Central Committee of the CPSU (Communist Party of the Soviet Union) and later Kosygin's Deputy Foreign Minister and Soviet Ambassador to Yugoslavia. The 23rd Congress of the CPSU was held in March 1966. The zippered brown heather folder measures 14.5” x 10” and is embossed in red, in Russian, “<I>XXIII/ Congress/ CPSU.</B></I>” It was presented by Gagarin to Rodionov on April 6, 1966, almost five years to the day after Gagarin became the first man in space. Yuri Gagarin was killed in a training flight on March 27, 1968, less than two years later.
